Hi there!
My name is Lisa MacKenzie, and I am a primary school teacher on the Gold Coast. As you would know from watching the news in recent weeks, my home state of Queensland is facing a flood crisis. Recent reports stated that, at one stage, 75% of the state was under flood waters, and thousands of people were evacuated from their homes and communities.
This site has been created for those students who have been relocated, or have been isolated in their homes. Attending school may not be possible for the beginning of the 2011 school year, so I have created this site to share a number of learning links that I have found and regularly use in my classroom. It is hoped that students are able to access these resources and keep their minds active and productive during these trying times. I hope that it will be a welcomed distraction to the crisis that surrounds them.
My thoughts and prayers are with all affected by the floods. I am confident that the Australian spirit will prevail, and that everyday heros will emerge to support us all.
